Site Tour

This week we all got lucky as Ron Junker, site supervisor, led guided tours of the addition for interested Grebel board members, staff, faculty and students. It was exciting to walk through in real life what we've been seeing in two-dimensional drawings for a year.

Jim Pankratz, Grebel's Academic Dean, points up at the wall of the old archives, where windows have been cut into the brick.

These are the steel beams marking the location of the third and fourth floor bridges in the Atrium. Both bridges will be expanded from their former size, especially the third floor bridge, which will be more of a platform and include comfortable seating as part of the Grebel gallery area. The cement will be poured for these bridges within the next month.

A group comprised of students, staff, faculty and board members stands in the future entrance of the college. It will be large and inviting. The small projections in the wall on the left hand side are guides for when the brick facing is installed.

On the first floor of the addition, large windows from a future music classroom look out into a window well that lets in so much light you forget you're in the basement! The area will be landscaped with plants and cobblestones. Light is a key feature of the new addition, which boasts abundant windows.
