Back to "Normal"

At Grebel, the term is off to a good start, and we are back to "normal." Around here, that definition keeps getting rewritten! We are glad to have all the students back, and that everyone is back in their regular offices.  However, things keep changing around us, so life is never dull. Our main level lobby looks quite a bit different these days, due to the construction of part of a necessary fire wall.

You may recognize this as the same area with nine workmen packed into it in last week's photo. This is the finished (for now) product. Lots of the work completed was up in the ceiling in terms of wiring, ducts etc. Through the doors to the right is the main office, and straight ahead is the upper atrium. The coffee bar is to the left. The little room on the left is a temporary barrier around the stairs, which will eventually come down, although the wall to the right is permanent. This area will be worked on again in May, as renovations start in the current main office area.

Above is the view from the third floor library stairwell. The steel deck is in place for the third floor, and the next step will be pouring the concrete (on a day when it's not raining!). It's fun to see the building go up like a layer cake.

This is the view out the main entrance (now no longer functional since it opens onto the construction site!). You can see how the third and fourth floors will overhang the bottom two. The new main entrance will be along the wall to the right.
