Here's a mini-tour through some of our new spaces on levels 2 and 3. We have a grand opening scheduled for June 22, so you can join us then to see it in real life if not before.
Henry Paetkau shows off the Paetkau Seminar Room. We've moved quite a few of our grad classes into this space, as well as internal meetings. It is gorgeous with lots of natural light, and so big that people think we shrunk the boardroom table!
We all love the Schlegel Community Education Room already. It features a wall of windows, a kitchenette, and comfy, easily repositionable furniture on wheels. So far we've been able to save the carpet from coffee stains but it's only a matter of time!
The new front desk welcomes visitors to Grebel while providing a comfortable work environment for front office staff. You can see that construction has held on to a small corner of the Atrium. They still require a lift for some work on the fourth floor so they are storing it there.
On the other side of the front office wall, the mail room serves the needs of staff and faculty. Mail boxes, office supplies, and workspace are all available here.
The photocopy room, while cozy, provides enough space for both copiers. It also stores paper and provides updates on events of note.
Now, on to level 3! The library staff have set up camp temporarily in their new space as everything had to come out of the old section. It will be renovated so the carpet and paint match the new section.
The new circulation desk will look a little less cozy than this in the future! These book stacks are temporary refugees while their home is being re-carpeted.
Students gravitate towards the large open spaces and bright windows in the new study area. The best part is that this ramp connects the library to the third floor residence, so it's very convenient for Grebel students to use this prime study spot.
Thanks for joining this little tour. Hope to see you here in person soon!
