Strange Stairs

One of our ongoing projects, extending the centre Atrium stairwell, advanced this week, although not as fast as site supervisor Ron Junker would have liked.

We are doing things a little differently than is traditional. Typically the landings are built and then the stairs are tied in afterwards. However, these stairs were designed to allow the maximum space available for the bridges (see a picture in the last post). Because of that, the stairs are hung in place first (see the chains?) and then the landings are tied in afterwards.

Just another way that this project is tricky - but will ultimately end up serving our needs very well.
