Visible and Invisible Progress

Work on the 2nd floor progressed visibly this past week. The old main office area now constitutes new faculty offices and an IT room (otherwise known as a NOC - Network Operations Centre). It's always encouraging to observers when we can see progress.

However, most of the work now happening in the addition is out of the sight of non-construction crew members. It can be harder to have patience when we can't see the work being done and reassure ourselves that living with dentist-office-on-steroids drilling, leaky ceilings and cold temperatures is all worth it.

For example, from the outside, the addition looks exactly the same as it did last week (at least to the uninitiated observer). But all kinds of things have been happening inside - electrical wiring, plumbing, duct work, working towards making the building watertight. Some weeks we just have to trust that progress is taking place even when we can't see it!
