Beginnings of a Fourth Floor

Insertion of the steel deck for level four wins the prize for the most exciting construction-related happening this week. When seen from Westmount, it really gives you a good idea of the curved shape of the building. This view is from the stairwell of the current academic building.

The wall that you see under the steel deck is the wall for the archives, at the heart of the third floor. These are the weight-bearing walls for the fourth floor.

Compare this photo to the photo of the Atrium from last week. Have you ever wondered what's under the drywall that you see around you every day? In this case it's a combination of pre-cast, concrete and brick.
