Foundation Work

With 2/3 of the walls for the lower level done, the next item on the agenda is to dig and pour the foundations for the core of the building. These foundations will be supporting the new archives, three floors above! You can see the trenches being dug - forms will be inserted and then cement will be poured.

(Note the photographer's shadow as she leans around the construction barrier to get a better photo!)

In the next few weeks, our main entrance will be closed down so that further excavation work can take place. At that point, entry to the building from the Westmount side will happen via the lower doors near the Great Hall.

We are excited to welcome our fall students on Labour Day! Here's hoping that construction and our regular activities can coexist even when our activity level skyrockets.
